Memora started as a consumer app for remembering loved ones online. I joined the team in November, right as the company made a bigger bet: pivoting from a B2C memorial app into a B2G platform for the municipalities and cemeteries that manage grave sites every day. The industry had a real obstacle to that plan - one legacy system, Brandsoft, held a near-monopoly across Denmark's cemeteries, with no real competitor in the space. Memora has since been named Best Startup two years running.
The Administration Platform became the operational heart of the ecosystem - replacing spreadsheets, paper records, and phone calls with a live dashboard of everything happening across the cemetery. Rather than asking cemeteries to abandon Brandsoft outright, we designed an onboarding flow where they export their existing data as CSV and import their cemetery map as a QGIS file, instantly turning it into a live, searchable digital map of every grave.
The Gardener App put that same map in the hands of the people doing the physical work. Built for gloves, sunlight, and patchy signal, it works fully offline, lets gardeners log maintenance across entire sections in one bulk action instead of grave by grave, and swaps typing for voice notes and quick photo capture - designed around a working day outdoors, not an office.
The Community App closes the loop back to families. Every completed task - a photo of the grave, a short note on the work done and the day's weather - arrives automatically, so relatives always know their loved one is being cared for. Families can invite relatives with different permission levels, tag people, comment, and share memories, the same way they would on any social app - just built for grief and remembrance instead of engagement.
The Partner App is the commercial engine behind the whole system. Families can order flowers and memorial items delivered directly to the gravesite - placed, photographed, and confirmed with a short message the moment they arrive, the same proof-of-delivery model as the Gardener App. It gives cemeteries a genuine new revenue stream, taking a cut of every order, and turns Memora from a design project into a real business model for the industry.
The real innovation isn't any one of these four products - it's how they operate as a single system. A flower order from a family instantly creates a task inside the Administration Platform, gets assigned to a gardener, gets completed and documented with a photo, and flows straight back to the family who placed it - one connected event, seen through four completely different interfaces built for four completely different people.
